Day one of coming home from school with very dirty snow pants, coat, gloves, and hat = everything cleaned in the washing machine with a "little talk"
Day two of the same thing = everything cleaned in the washing machine with a stern "little talk"
Day three, ditto = washing your own dirty stuff in the tub a la Laura Ingalls
She's come home clean ever since (although she did seem to actually enjoy washing her stuff in the tub).
